The Nitty Gritty

ARRIVAL

Arrival time is 4pm unless you have worked out an earlier arrival time with Judy.

Please follow directions on the Three Otters website (www.threeotters.com) as using GPS will not get you there.

When you arrive at Three Otters, please park in the designated parking area.

If the parking area fills up, please parallel park along the Pine Tree Side of the driveway.

Please only bring one vehicle at a time to unload at Cabin, River Kitchen or where you are staying. When you are done unloading, please return vehicle to the parking area.

Food Storage

  • Please keep all food secured in a refrigerator, cooler or closed plastic bin in the River Kitchen or Grill Pavillion.
  • Please clean tables and counters after each meal and before retiring for the night.
  • At the end of each day, please
    • Put trash bags into the Large Grey Trash Bins and make sure the lids are closed tight.
    • Put recycling in the large black bins outside of the Grill Pavilion.
    • Empty compost bins into Compost area in the garden.

Fire Pits

  • There are two fire pits and plenty of firewood
  • Please keep the fire small and always have a shovel and 5-gallon bucket of water near the fire in case of emergency.
  • The hose and water hydrant are by the garden.
  • Do not leave fires unattended and put them out completely by using shovel and water.

Trash/Recyclables/Burnables/Composting

Trash

  • Trash is the biggest challenge at Three Otters. Three Otters provides trash bags and trash cans in all common areas and in all the accommodations. Please close/tie full trash bags and put them in the large grey trash bins located near the Grill Pavilion.
  • If the bins located next to the Grill Pavilion are full, there are additional large trash bins in the trash holding area behind the big Green Shed that may be used.
    • Please take all trash from the Grill Pavilion to the large grey trash bins at the end of every day.

Recycling

  • Aluminum Cans (e.g., soda cans, beer cans)
    • Three Otters has specific container for aluminum cans and recycling in the River Kitchen and outside the Grill Pavillion.
  • Plastic Water bottles without caps (e.g., water bottles, juice bottles): #1 and #2 plastic only; No caps
  • Glass is discouraged.  Please take with you any bottles of glass (e.g., beer, wine) upon departure. It is preferred that guests use beer cans instead of bottles as there is no glass recycling and reduces the chances of broken glass (especially on the beach and in the river).
  • Please note that water at Three Otters is drinkable. There is a water treatment system to ensure clean water. Guests are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and to avoid using plastic disposable cups or plastic water bottles.

Burnables

  • Please place all paper and cardboard into the burnable bins. Once or twice a day, please burn the paper and cardboard in the fire pit.

Composting

  • Three Otters composts vegetables, fruits, eggshells and coffee grounds. Do not compost any bread, wheat, or meat as these foods attract critters.
  • There are composting containers in the Cabin, Grill Pavilion and River Kitchen and a composting bin outside the Grill Pavilion. Please empty the composting containers/bin into the back-right corner of the Garden at least once a day.

Pets

For the convenience and comfort of our glampers, please do not bring any pets to the event.  NO EXCEPTIONS! If you would like to rent out Three Otters in the future for a gathering, please discuss the pet rules directly with management.
